35th Anniversary Review of the Taiwan Association of Social Workers

The Taiwan Association of Social Workers (TASW) was officially established in 1989 with the aim of advocating for the social work community and promoting social welfare policies. Initially formed by a group of social work practitioners, it has since developed into the leading professional organization for social work in Taiwan. Over the past 35 years, TASW has actively pushed for the enactment and amendment of the Social Worker Act, improving the legal framework for the profession, while also focusing on the occupational safety, well-being, and mental health of social workers, and initiating related policy advocacy.

In addition to promoting the improvement of social welfare policies, TASW has worked to enhance the public image of social work through national social welfare expos, promotional films, and Social Worker Day events, increasing public awareness of the role of social work. Furthermore, TASW regularly organizes professional training and educational courses, fostering the local development and knowledge transmission of social work practice, while strengthening cooperation with government and academic institutions to promote policy and institutional development.

On the international front, TASW has actively enhanced exchanges with social work communities from other countries through international collaborations, forums, and various visiting opportunities.

2024 marked the 35th anniversary of the Taiwan Association of Social Workers. TASW held its 35th-anniversary event and annual seminar on March 23, with the attendance of several founding members, past presidents, and secretaries-general, as well as government representatives and representatives from professional organizations.

The Taiwan Association of Social Workers extends its gratitude for the support of all parties and will continue to develop and promote the advancement of the social work profession and the rights of social workers.
